Gold Canyon

Gold Canyon is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Pinal County, Arizona, located along U.S. Route 60 at the base of the Superstition Mountains. It sits east of Apache Junction and had a population of 11,404 at the 2020 census.

Gold Canyon is served by the Apache Junction Unified School District (AJUSD), which covers a 217-square mile area including the City of Apache Junction, Gold Canyon, Peralta Trail, Queen Valley, and surrounding unincorporated areas. The district includes an early learning center, several elementary schools such as Peralta Trail Elementary located at 10965 E Peralta Rd. in Gold Canyon, a middle school, and Apache Junction High School. Getting around

Gold Canyon is situated along U.S. Route 60, which connects the community to Apache Junction to the west and continues east toward other communities in Pinal County.

Nearby Peralta Canyon includes a planned community development of 750 homes constructed over 5 years. The area also includes age-restricted RV and golf resort communities, such as one offering sites within a gated setting near the Superstition Mountains.

Things to do

Peralta Regional Park, a 498-acre regional park located east of Peralta Road, opened on January 11, 2023. The area includes several golf courses, including the Prospector and Lost Gold courses at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus and his sons, as well as Mountain Brook Golf Club and courses at Gold Canyon Golf Resort. Peralta Canyon, on the back side of Superstition Mountain within the Superstition Mountains, is a hiking destination within Tonto National Forest with a trail leading to Fremont Saddle.
